The key domestic benchmark indices pared all the gains and slipped into red during the late noon trading session as investors turned cautious ahead of the F&O expiry of May series due tomorrow. Sentiments also dampened after media reports surfaced that tensions across the LoC intensified after Pakistan Air Force’s jet fighter planes made flights near the Siachen glacier during the day.
At 14:20 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 30306.19 down by 59.06 points or by 0.19 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 9365.55 down by 20.6 points or by 0.22 per cent.
In the volatile trade, Sensex touched an intraday high of 30534.15 and an intraday low of 30288.21, while the NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 9431.9 and an intraday low of 9351.9.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 467.60,+3.89%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 388.20,+2.04%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1037.00,+1.66%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 337.00,+1.49%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2540.00,+0.78%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 517.90,-2.86%), State Bank of India (Rs. 283.00,-2.13%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1305.00,-1.83%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1711.50,-1.69%), Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 2537.60,-1.57%), among others.
